Five Ways to Prepare for the 8/8/8 Lion’s Gate Portal

Every year, the Lion’s Gate invites us to pause at the threshold between the life we have been living and the life that is asking to emerge through us. This year, with the triple-eight vibration of 8/8/26 (2+6=8 so it's 8/8/8), that invitation feels especially powerful.
The number 8 carries the energy of abundance, balance, personal power and the infinite flow between giving and receiving. And when I speak about abundance, I am not just speaking about money (although money is a part of abundance).
Abundance is also the freedom to live as your authentic self. It is having the time, support and resources you need. It is trusting your intuition, protecting your peace and no longer abandoning yourself to keep everyone else comfortable. It is the feeling that life is supporting you and that there is room for you to receive.
The Lion’s Gate is often spoken about as a time for manifestation, but manifestation is not only about deciding what you want. It is also about becoming open enough to allow it into your life.
You may be asking for greater freedom while continuing to give your energy to what drains you. You may be asking for guidance while ignoring the voice that whispers within you. You may desire abundance while some part of your body is still preparing for disappointment.
This does not mean you are doing anything wrong. It simply means there may be some inner preparation required before you can fully receive what you have been calling in.
As we approach August 8, here are five ways to prepare your mind, body and spirit for the Lion’s Gate.
1. Become quiet enough to hear your intuition
Your intuition is always speaking to you, but it rarely competes for your attention. It will not shout over the noise of the world or force you to listen. It waits patiently beneath the opinions, expectations and distractions until you are ready to become still.
In the days leading up to the Lion’s Gate, create more space for silence. Sit in meditation. Walk without your phone. Write in your journal before asking someone else what they think. Give yourself time to notice what continues to rise within you.
Your intuition may come as a feeling of expansion, a quiet sense of knowing or a truth you have been trying not to acknowledge. It may ask you to move forward, or it may ask you to wait. It may guide you toward something new, or confirm that it is time to release what no longer feels aligned.
You do not need to force an answer. Your work is simply to become quiet enough to receive the wisdom that is already there.
2. Help your body feel safe enough to receive
We often think receiving is entirely spiritual, but the body is part of the process.
When your nervous system has spent a long time in survival mode, peace can feel unfamiliar. Support can feel uncomfortable. Even the things you have been praying for can feel overwhelming when they finally arrive.
This is why regulation matters. Not because you need to become perfectly calm before life can bless you, but because your body needs to learn that expansion can be safe.
Slow your breathing. Spend time in nature. Rest without making yourself earn it first. Reduce the noise around you and notice where you may be carrying urgency that does not belong to you.
Allow your body to experience small moments of safety, pleasure and support. Let yourself enjoy what is already here without waiting for something to go wrong.
The greater your capacity for peace, the greater your capacity to receive.
3. Protect the energy your next chapter will require
Your energy is sacred. It is the place from which you create, connect, heal and hear your inner guidance. When you continually give it away through overcommitting, people-pleasing or remaining available to everyone at all times, you leave very little space for your own life to grow.
Preparing for the Lion’s Gate may require you to become more discerning about what receives your attention.
Notice which conversations leave you feeling depleted. Notice where you say yes while your whole body is asking you to say no. Notice the relationships, habits and obligations that repeatedly pull you away from yourself.
Protecting your energy is not unkind. A boundary is not a punishment. Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is stop participating in what is costing you your peace.
You do not need to explain every boundary or make everyone understand your choices. You are allowed to protect the energy your healing, creativity and future require.
4. Let abundance mean more than money
There is nothing wrong with desiring financial abundance. Money can create choice, support, generosity and freedom. But abundance is much larger than what sits in a bank account.
Abundance may be waking up without dread. It may be work that allows you to remain connected to yourself. It may be the freedom to leave what no longer honors you, the support to rest when you need to, or relationships where you feel safe enough to be fully seen.
It may be a peaceful home, time with the people you love, a healthy body or the knowledge that you will not have to betray yourself in order to have your needs met.
Before the Lion’s Gate, ask yourself what abundance truly means to you. Not what you have been told to want, and not what would look impressive to someone else.
What would allow you to feel free?
What kind of support are you ready to receive?
What would your life feel like if you trusted that your needs could be met without constant struggle?
The clearer you become about the feeling beneath your desires, the more open you become to receiving abundance in forms you may not have imagined.
5. Practice receiving what is already trying to reach you
Receiving is not something that begins after you manifest the big dream. It is a practice you can begin today.
Notice what happens when someone compliments you. Do you let their words reach you, or do you immediately dismiss them? When someone offers to help, do you accept, or do you insist on carrying everything alone? When life gives you a moment of beauty, do you allow yourself to enjoy it, or does your mind immediately move to the next responsibility?
Many people are comfortable giving but deeply uncomfortable receiving. We may have learned that it is safer to need less, ask for less and expect less. But receiving does not make you dependent or selfish. It allows life to meet you.
Let yourself accept kindness. Let support be offered without rushing to repay it. Let rest be nourishing rather than something you feel guilty about. When your intuition speaks, receive that guidance by honoring it.
Each time you allow something good to reach you, you are teaching yourself that it is safe to be supported.
Enter the Lion’s Gate as yourself
On August 8, set aside some time to connect with yourself. Meditate, pray, journal or create a ritual that feels meaningful to you. Write down what you are ready to welcome, but also ask what you are willing to release so there is room for it to arrive.
You may need to release an old identity, a fear of being seen, the belief that struggle makes you worthy or the habit of seeking permission for what your soul already knows.
The Lion’s Gate is not asking you to become someone else. It is inviting you to return to the most honest and expanded version of who you already are.
Enter this portal listening to your intuition. Enter it protecting your energy. Enter it knowing that abundance can look like peace, freedom, love, support and a life in which you no longer have to leave yourself behind.
You do not have to chase what is meant for you.
But you do have to become willing to receive it.
